Ardee concert Band has had a long and illustrious history spanning 150 years, making it the third oldest band in Ireland. Formed in 1860 by John Bradley, a local miller, the instrumentation of the band was made up of fifes and drums, with performers sporting a debonair red and white uniform. The band with its full compliment of brass and reed instruments was formed in 1904 by Joseph Dolan. This prize winning band have performed in a wide variety of venues from Croke Park to the National Concert Hall, and even for the visit of Pope John Paul II in September 1979!
